Why I Shoot on Film (and Often in Black & White)
There’s something truly special about film. The texture, tone and depth it brings can’t be matched. I shoot a mixture of digital and film, but it’s the film shots; especially the ones taken in black and white; that often become the most powerful and memorable.
Black and white strips away distraction. It hones in on the feeling of the moment; the movement of a dress, the grip of two hands, the laughter, the intimacy. There’s a rawness to it that suits weddings perfectly. It’s not about perfection but rather it’s about capturing truth, with a timeless, fine-art aesthetic that feels cinematic.
